Rwanda Knits

Rwanda Knits

Operated by The Fiber and Craft Entrepreneurial Development Center (FACED), Rwanda Knits is a non-profit organization that provides hand-operated, American-made knitting machines, technical and business training to Rwandan and refugee women living in Rwanda to enable them to increase their incomes through economically sustainable knitting cooperatives.

The women produce garments for both the domestic and export markets. Working through Rwandans and Americans in Partnership (RAP), a Rwanda-based NGO, it has been described as one of USAID Rwanda's most successful income-producing projects.

The Task

Teamed with 7thPixel, we designed and built an upgrade to their existing website with a fresh visual design, expanded content, and updated user navigation. We knew they had a tight deadline. National Public Radio had an upcoming broadcast on their latest project and online auction and we needed to complete the project before it aired.

Our Solution

We created a new visual design combined with an intuitive user interface. We also built a complimentary auction site to help with their fundraising efforts and provided technical support and guidance on setting up PayPal for their donations page.

Highlights

  • Appealing visual design that incorporates the photography (professional and amateur) from the travels of Cari Clement (the driving force behind FACED) in Rwanda.
  • Valid HTML 4.01 Transitional
  • Ongoing site maintenance
